The purpose was to evaluate interagency coordination and decision-making during a rapidly expanding wildland fire threatening the Nakoma, Iron Horse, and South Portola communities.

Exercise Objectives

  2. Review evacuation warning and evacuation order procedures.
  3. Evaluate activation of the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office Genesis emergency notification system.
  4. Discuss traffic management.
  5. Discuss shelter activation at Portola Elementary School.
  6. Evaluate planning for possible evacuation of Eastern Plumas Health Care (EPHC).
  7. Identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

A tabletop excercise was held along with an after action review of the scenario that covered the response by all agencies involved.
